The Comics Corner - Week of 04/06/2011

I Need Comics
Welcome to the Comics Corner! This week the Corner is superhero free! Well, almost. It’d be downright irresponsible for me to ignore Marvel’s newest event: Fear Itself. But after that it’s all about some fantastic comics that don’t have a single superhero in them. In fact, they’re also all Image titles. We’ve got Chew as well as two brand new series debuting this week. Blue Estate and Nonplayer are the newest additions to Image’s impressive line-up of on-going series. And with all these number one issues it’s also an extremely new-reader friendly edition of the Comics Corner! So pull up a chair and get ready to feast on the Top of the Stack!

Charismagic #1

I Need Comics

In the original review of Charismagic #0, I noted that the story of the original magicians, druids, and conjurors who had to live in hiding felt like a strong mix of characters and history. The #0 issue really focused on them and I was looking forward to reading a lot more about them. The bad news is that Charismagic #1 doesn't focus on them very much. The good news is that the issue does focus on Hank, our modern day Vegas stage magician, and he is just as much fun to read about.

Read more about Charismagic #1 here.
