LOS ANGELES, CA (November 3, 2018)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 BOOM! Studios today unveiled one of the main covers to\u00a0BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3<\/strong>\u00a0by acclaimed artist Kevin Wada (She-Hulk<\/em>) featuring everyone\u2019s favorite Watcher, the man known as Rupert Giles. The next chapter of the hotly-anticipated series will debut in-stores March 13th, 2019, in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products.<\/p>\n

The reimagining of Joss Whedon’s groundbreaking series reaches the penultimate chapter of the first arc as Buffy and the Scooby Gang (the name was Xander\u2019s idea, he\u2019s workshopping it, it probably won\u2019t stick) delve deeper into the heart of Sunnydale\u2019s underbelly\u2014and make a shocking discovery about the true nature of the Hellmouth. \u00a0Meanwhile, Drusilla \u2013 AKA THE MISTRESS \u2013 sets her sights on Cordelia, as Cordy and Spike find accidental common ground.<\/p>\n

Welcome back to the Hellmouth as Eisner Award-nominated writer Jordie Bellaire (Redlands<\/em>) and Russ Manning Award-winning artist Dan Mora (Klaus, Saban\u2019s Go Go Power Rangers<\/em>), along with series creator and story consultant Joss Whedon (the visionary writer\/director behind\u00a0Firefly, Marvel\u2019s The Avengers,<\/em>\u00a0and more), reimagine the groundbreaking pop culture phenomenon from the very beginning.<\/p>\n

Buffy The Vampire Slayer<\/em>\u00a0premiered on the WB Network on March 10th, 1997. The Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series, which ran for seven seasons from 1997-2003, stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as \u201cBuffy Summers.\u201d Chosen to battle vampires, demons and other forces of darkness, Buffy is aided by a Watcher who guides and teaches her as she surrounds herself with a circle of friends called the \u201cScooby Gang.\u201d<\/p>\n

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3<\/strong>\u00a0features main covers by Mondo illustrator Matthew Taylor and artist Matt Smith (Barbarian Lord<\/em>), along with a variant cover by horror illustrator Scott Buoncristiano (Dead Rabbit<\/em>).<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of important lessons in Buffy, but one of the most resonant and truest ones is this: librarians are total badasses. And, as Kevin Wada dreamily illustrates, they\u2019re pretty easy on the eyes, too,\u201d said Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios. \u201cRupert Giles has a huge role to play in this series and we\u2019ll learn that he\u2019s much more than he appears \u2013 and we don\u2019t just mean the fact that, if you haven\u2019t heard, he\u2019s quite good at playing an acoustic version of Stairway to Heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n
