LOS ANGELES, CA (December 6, 2018)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 BOOM! Studios today announcedFIREFLY: BAD COMPANY #1<\/strong>, the first over-sized\u00a0special issue from the company\u2019s sold out continuation of Joss Whedon\u2019s sci-fi epic, in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products.<\/p>\n

Arriving in comic shops March 2019, writer Josh Lee Gordon and artist Francesco Mortarino (Saban\u2019s Go Go Power Rangers<\/em>) reveal the secret origin of the most belovedFirefly\u00a0<\/em>characters in the \u2019Verse\u2014SAFFRON! Journey through the early days of Saffron\u2019s life, before her fateful \u201cmarriage\u201d to our Captain Mal, and how she\u2019s connected to the bounty currently on Mal\u2019s head in the pages of\u00a0Firefly<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough we only meet Saffron briefly, it’s a testament to the richness of\u00a0Firefly\u00a0<\/em>and its world that she remains endlessly compelling all these years later.\u201d said writer, Josh Lee Gordon. \u201cThe original series remains a tremendous influence on my work, and I’m thrilled by this opportunity to contribute something of my own to the ‘Verse.\u201d<\/p>\n

FIREFLY: BAD COMPANY #1<\/strong>\u00a0features a main cover by Diego Galindo (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers<\/em>) and a variant cover by Jamal Campbell (Green Arrow<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Created by Whedon and set 500 years in the future in the wake of a universal civil war,Firefly<\/em>\u00a0centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship that doesn’t have a planet to call home. Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds, a defeated soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the totalitarian governed Alliance, will undertake any job \u2014 legal or not \u2014 to stay afloat and keep his crew fed. Thrust together by necessity but staying together out of loyalty, these disparate men and women are seeking adventure and the good life, but face constant challenges on the new frontier, such as avoiding capture by the Alliance, and evading the dangers you find on the fringes of the universe.<\/p>\n
