LOS ANGELES, CA (December 8, 2018)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 BOOM! Studios today unveiled one of the main covers to\u00a0BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3\u00a0<\/strong>by artist Matt Smith (Jim Henson\u2019s Storyteller, Barbarian Lord<\/em>), featuring the first appearance of an all new Slayer from times past.The next chapter of the hotly-anticipated series will debut in-stores March 13th, 2019, in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products.<\/p>\n

The reimagining of Joss Whedon’s groundbreaking series reaches the penultimate chapter of the first arc as Buffy and the Scooby Gang (the name was Xander\u2019s idea, he\u2019s workshopping it, it probably won\u2019t stick) delve deeper into the heart of Sunnydale\u2019s underbelly\u2014and make a shocking discovery about the true nature of the Hellmouth. Meanwhile, Drusilla \u2013 AKA THE MISTRESS \u2013 and Spike make the next moves in their deadly plan for the Slayer and the life of one the people closest to her!<\/p>\n

Welcome back to the Hellmouth, as Eisner Award-nominated writer Jordie Bellaire (Redlands<\/em>) and Russ Manning Award-winning artist Dan Mora (Klaus, Saban\u2019s Go Go Power Rangers<\/em>), along with series creator and story consultant Joss Whedon (the visionary writer\/director behind Firefly, Marvel\u2019s The Avengers, and more), reimagine the groundbreaking pop culture phenomenon from the very beginning.<\/p>\n

Buffy The Vampire Slayer\u00a0<\/em>premiered on the WB Network on March 10th, 1997. The Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series, which ran for seven seasons from 1997-2003, stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as \u201cBuffy Summers.\u201d Chosen to battle vampires, demons and other forces of darkness, Buffy is aided by a Watcher who guides and teaches her as she surrounds herself with a circle of friends called the \u201cScooby Gang.\u201d<\/p>\n

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3<\/strong>\u00a0features main covers by fan favorite artist Kevin Wada (She-Hulk<\/em>) and acclaimed Mondo illustrator Matthew Taylor, along with a variant cover by horror illustrator Scott Buoncristiano (Dead Rabbit)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome folks have guessed it, but I\u2019m excited to officially reveal that every issue of\u00a0BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER<\/strong>\u00a0will have a variant cover featuring the first appearance of a previous Chosen One,\u201d said Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios. \u201cMatt Smith beautifully introduces a new Viking Slayer that, like the new Slayers on covers to previous issues, may have a larger role in Buffy\u2019s life much sooner than anyone expects.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
