SANTA MONICA, Calif.<\/u>–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The second open tournament of the 2018 Call of\u00a0<\/u>Duty World League<\/u>\u00a0season, presented by PlayStation\u00ae4, gets underway today through\u00a0Sunday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(<\/u>January 12 – 14<\/u>) at the CWL New Orleans Open.\u00a0Call of Duty\u00ae<\/i>\u00a0esports teams from around the world, including teams from\u00a0<\/u>North America<\/u>,\u00a0<\/u>Europe<\/u>\u00a0and the\u00a0<\/u>Asia-Pacific region<\/u>\u00a0(APAC), will visit the\u00a0<\/u>Ernest N. Morial Convention Center<\/u>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/u>New Orleans<\/u>\u00a0to battle for the open event championship and a share of the event prize pool as part of the CWL largest season long prize purse in league history, topping\u00a0<\/u>$4.2 million<\/u>.<\/p>\n

The top four teams from the open winners’ bracket will join pool play\u00a0tomorrow<\/span><\/span>. Those winning teams will then move on to compete\u00a0on Sunday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in the championship bracket, for a\u00a0<\/u>$200,000<\/u>\u00a0event prize pool and the title of CWL New Orleans Open Champion.<\/p>\n

“This season of the CWL already has seen tremendous growth, matching last season’s overall number of online participants in the first month of the new season. CWL Dallas Open\u00a0<\/u>Champion Team Kaliber<\/u>\u00a0will be the team to watch, as it attempts to take its second championship of the season against fierce competition.<\/p>\n

Results at CWL New Orleans Open will help determine sixteen qualifying teams for the\u00a0<\/u>CWL Pro League<\/u>, a nine-week tournament series at the\u00a0<\/u>MLG Arena<\/u>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/u>Columbus, Ohio<\/u>, beginning\u00a0<\/u>January 23<\/span><\/span><\/u>. The second-ever\u00a0<\/u>CWL Pro League<\/u>\u00a0offers a\u00a0<\/u>$200,000<\/u>\u00a0prize pool for teams that qualify for the series and the ability to earn a spot in the Stage 1 playoff series, which carries a\u00a0<\/u>$500,000<\/u>\u00a0event prize pool.<\/p>\n
