BOOM! Studios, in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products, along with visionary writer and director Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Marvel\u2019s The Avengers<\/em>), today revealed a first look at\u00a0ANGEL #2<\/strong>, written by Bryan Edward Hill (Detective Comics, Killmonger<\/em>) with art from Gleb Melnikov (Saban\u2019s Go Go Power Rangers<\/em>), featuring the first appearance of fan favorite Winifred \u201cFred\u201d Burkle, available in stores June 26, 2019.<\/p>\n

Meet Angel \u2013 a vampire cursed with a soul who has spent centuries protecting humanity from the monsters that lurk in the dark\u2026including himself. Now, looking for redemption for the atrocities committed by the monster he was when he was first turned at the age of 18, Angel stumbles upon a new demon uprising and a shocking truth: The restoration of his humanity can only come if he takes one more life \u2013 a certain Slayer from Sunnydale who he\u2019s never met\u2026but may now be his greatest enemy.<\/p>\n

Angel is in Sunnydale, searching for a cure to his centuries-long existence as a vampire cursed with a soul, but all he\u2019s found is even more death, the loss of a loved one, and a mysterious monster that he can\u2019t see or follow, that uses the evil mirror of social media and modern communication to lure victims into an existence worse than death. Can Angel catch up to the monster before it can take the lives of any other Sunnydale teens? And what exactly does the monster want with a young, troubled woman named Winifred Burkle?<\/p>\n

ANGEL #2<\/strong>\u00a0features a main cover by artist Dan Panosian (Slots, Batman: Arkham Knight<\/em>) and variant covers by artists Scott Buoncristiano (Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em>), Will Sliney (Star Wars: Galaxy\u2019s Edge<\/em>) and Adam Gorham (Punk Mambo<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Created by visionary writer and director Joss Whedon (Marvel\u2019s The Avengers<\/em>\u00a0film franchise),\u00a0Angel\u00a0<\/em>premiered on the WB Network on October 5th, 1999 and was a spin-off from\u00a0Buffy The Vampire Slayer<\/em>. The series ran for five seasons from 1999-2004, starring David Boreanaz as Angel, the tortured vampire destined to walk the earth with a soul who moved to LA to set up shop as a supernatural private investigator. Despite Angel\u2019s best efforts to deal with the sins of his past all by himself, Angel Investigations soon became home to other lost souls searching for redemption and willing to fight by his side.<\/p>\n

ANGEL\u00a0<\/strong>is the newest release from BOOM!
