NEW YORK, NY\u2014Z2 Comics spring fever continues with news that Jimmy Eat World has joined their roster of beloved bands expanding their mythos into comics and graphic novels with the announcement of\u00a0Jimmy Eat World: 555<\/em>, a brand-new oversized issue, available to order\u00a0now<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Random Shock Studios<\/strong>, the team behind other successful Z2 releases teams up with Jimmy Eat World\u2019s\u00a0Jim Adkins<\/strong>\u00a0for an original slab of science fiction inspired by the music of the platinum selling artists behind such massive hits as \u201cThe Middle,\u201d and \u201cPain.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jim Adkins<\/strong>\u00a0says \u201cThere was a fair bit of world-building around the characters for the \u2018555\u2019 music video and it felt too interesting to end the story there\u2026 it screamed for a comic adaption. I gave Alex Paknadel the basics of the character backstories and he was able to conceptualize an amazing world that Koren Shadmi perfectly illustrated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Klaarg took the job at the edge of known space to be as far away from the Asano Pact \u2013 from\u00a0people<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 as possible. As the overseer of a factory that produces\u00a0Kudj Kram<\/em>, the cloned slave labor that keeps the corrupt system he represents running, his days are exactly as he wants them: empty and without incident. However, when his factory is targeted for closure, Klaarg discovers that he is as expendable to his superiors as the creatures in his charge.<\/p>\n

Adkins continues \u201cThe song \u2018555\u2019 is about shifting your thinking from what you can gain to how you can contribute and the surprising rewards that brings. Based on that concept, our main character KLAARG works for an evil galactic empire as an overseer of a cloned work force and ends up battling with his own values as his purpose in the universe becomes threatened.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started work on this project with Jim awhile back, and I am thrilled to see it released\u201d says\u00a0Josh Frankel<\/strong>, publisher of Z2 Comics. \u201cJimmy Eat World were one of the first bands we spoke with who had an immediate understanding of the potential of comic book storytelling to further the experience for music fans beyond an album or tour.
