Todd McFarlane\u2019s gorgeous work on\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0was nothing less than groundbreaking. His intense version of the web-slinging wallcrawler took the character to new heights, instilling in the character a new sense of energy and vitality\u2014first in\u00a0The Amazing Spider-Man,<\/em>\u00a0written by\u00a0David Michelinie,<\/strong>\u00a0and then in a spin-off series, with both art\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0story by McFarlane himself. Plus, one of the most infamous characters introduced in that era\u2014the villainous Venom, co-created by McFarlane\u2014takes the spotlight in a number of pages, including his first appearance in\u00a0The Amazing Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0#299!<\/p>\n
