Blade<\/em>\u00a0star Wesley Snipes and his Maandi House Studios have partnered with Gifted Rebels, PCB Entertainment, and Inked Studios LLC on a new graphic novel, titled\u00a0The Exiled<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The comic will follow Detective Niles \u201cRoach\u201d Washington as he pursues a serial killer in the aftermath of a deadly gas attack. As the killer rips the spines from his victims, using tools over 5,000 years old, the world outcasts Roach for his theories. But his instincts keep pushing him forward. With enemies on all sides, and within, he wades into the darkness to find the killer and uncovers Earth\u2019s darkest secret.<\/p>\n

Gifted Rebels\u2019 Adam Lawson is adapting the comic book script from a story he created with Snipes and PCB Entertainment\u2019s President Keith Arem, with Gabriel \u201cEskivo\u201d Santos (Knightwraith<\/em>) doing the art and Valentina Bianconi (Seven Swords, Two Moons<\/em>) handling the colors. Among\u00a0The Exiled\u2018<\/em>s unique features are hidden codes, which will be interspersed throughout the graphic novel, offering access to digital collectibles and exclusive events.<\/p>\n

The new project will be crowdfunded via a Kickstarter campaign, launching\u00a0tomorrow on June 21st<\/a>. Backers will be rewarded with a Collector\u2019s Edition 140-page graphic novel, along with a manga-sized \u201cGo Version,\u201d and an additional story set in\u00a0The Exiled<\/em>\u2019s world, with day-one backers also receiving a campaign-only 155mm figurine of Detective Washington in action. After funding of the project is complete, the book will continue into publication via Lawson\u2019s LA-based graphic novel and board game company, Gifted Rebels.<\/p>\n

The Exiled<\/em>\u00a0comes on the heels of Arem\u2019s collaboration with Snipes on a video game adaptation of the sci-fi action film\u00a0Demolition Man<\/em>, in which he starred opposite Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes, Sandra Bullock, and Nigel Hawthorne\u2014as well as his partnership with Lawson on the graphic novel,\u00a0Dead Speed<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cComics let you explore big worlds. Since\u00a0Blade<\/em>, I have been attracted to origin stories and developing characters,\u201d said Snipes. \u201cNow, I get to build \u201cRoach\u201d as a character from the ground up and I dig that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to work with Wesley again. He is a fantastic creative partner, and Adam and I love collaborating with him,\u201d said Arem. \u201cThe Exiled<\/em>\u00a0is a dark reflection of what is happening in the world and a chance for us to explore new conspiracies and stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snipes is an NAACP Image Award winner and cinematic icon known for starring in all three of New Line\u2019s\u00a0Blade\u00a0<\/em>films, based on the Marvel comics by writer Marv Wolfman and illustrator Gene Colan, and appearing on the covers of multiple editions. He also previously made a run at comic books alongside Antoine Fuqua in 2010, with the limited series\u00a0After Dark<\/em>\u00a0for Radical Comics, and co-authored the urban fantasy novel, Talon of God. The actor will next appear in Chris Spencer\u2019s comedy\u00a0Back on the Strip<\/em>. He\u2019s also recently featured in such films as\u00a0Coming 2 America<\/em>,\u00a0Cut Throat City<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Dolemite Is My Name<\/em>, as well as series including\u00a0Paper Empire<\/em>,\u00a0True Story,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0What We Do in the Shadows<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Arem is a film director, comic book creator, and video game voice director who has brought his talents to the\u00a0Call of Duty<\/em>\u00a0franchise,\u00a0Spiderman<\/em>,\u00a0Sleeping Dogs<\/em>,\u00a0Yakuza<\/em>,\u00a0Final Fantasy,<\/em>\u00a0and hundreds of other games. He created the\u00a0Ascend<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Infex<\/em>\u00a0graphic novels, and also wrote and directed the feature, The Phoenix Incident. His cross-platform company PCB creates content for Interactive, VR, film, television, and emerging media.<\/p>\n

Lawson is a comic book creator, game maker, and TV showrunner who wrote and created the graphic novels The\u00a0Kill Journal<\/em>,\u00a0The Eighth,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Kids & Monsters<\/em>, as well as the tabletop RPG game\u00a0Asunder<\/em>. He served as the writer, director, and showrunner for all four seasons of YouTube Originals\u2019 fantasy-horror series,\u00a0Escape the Night<\/em>\u00a0and is currently developing two series at The CW, with his next graphic novel,\u00a0Jawbone Death<\/em>, set to launch later this year. Lawson launched Gifted Rebels with Ari Weiner during the pandemic.<\/p>\n
