Former publisher and president of DC, Paul Levitz, will join famed DC writer and artist Dan Jurgens, known for his work on the Superman series and the pop culture phenomenon \u201cThe Death of Superman,\u201d for a conversation about the history of superhero comics, the writers and artists who create comics and the legacy of DC\u2019s iconic Superman character. The event coincides with Awesome Con, which will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center beginning March 30.<\/p>\n<p>Levitz and Jurgens will be interviewed by creator Michael Cavna, of the Eisner-nominated \u201cComic Riffs\u201d column for The Washington Post. A question-and-answer session and book signing will follow.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.dccomics.com\/sites\/default\/files\/imce\/AC_1000_SM80_logo%20fnl_5aac05078fddf8.78268686.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The event will take place at\u00a0<strong>7 p.m. on Thursday, March 29<\/strong>, in the Coolidge Auditorium on the ground floor of the Library\u2019s Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First Street S.E., Washington, D.C. Additional details will follow.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, the Library welcomed visitors to explore\u00a0<strong>\u201cLibrary of Awesome,\u201d<\/strong>[https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/item\/prn-17-063\/library-of-congress-to-celebrate-the-world-of-comics\/2017-05-26\/] a pop-up display of more than 100 iconic comic-book issues of today\u2019s most popular characters. The collections of the Library of Congress include nearly 140,000 comic books dating back to the 1930s.<\/p>\n<p>DC Entertainment will publish a new hardcover book, \u201cAction Comics: 80 Years of Superman,\u201d this spring as part of the celebration of the 1,000th issue of Action Comics\u2014the longest continually published comic book of its kind in history, the series that introduced Superman to the world and the title that launched the superhero genre.<\/p>\n<p>This \u201cLibrary of Awesome\u201d event is made possible by gifts to the Library of Congress Fund.
