LOS ANGELES, CA (March 23, 2018) –<\/strong>\u00a0BOOM! Studios and The Jim Henson Company are excited to announce\u00a0JIM HENSON\u2019S BENEATH THE DARK CRYSTAL #1<\/strong>, an all-new twelve issue series debuting in July 2018.<\/p>\n

Writer Adam Smith (Jim Henson\u2019s Labyrinth 2017 Special<\/em>) and rising-star artist Alexandria Huntington unveil a new sequel to the hit film as Kensho arrives at the Crystal Castle where he was once a lowly acolyte and is asked to accept the responsibility as leader of Thra. But he will have to rectify sins of the past before he can decide if he – or anyone – is fit to rule. Meanwhile, the realm of Mithra is being rebuilt by the newly-crowned Ember Queen Thurma, whose own quest to decide the future of her land is thrown into question when another Fireling makes a claim as the true heir to the throne.<\/p>\n

JIM HENSON\u2019S BENEATH THE DARK CRYSTAL #1<\/strong>\u00a0features a main cover by Benjamin Dewey (Autumnlands<\/em>), along with variant covers by Eisner Award winners David Petersen (Mouse Guard<\/em>), Ram\u00f3n K. P\u00e9rez (Jane<\/em>), and Dave McKean (Sandman<\/em>).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Dark Crystal<\/em>\u00a0has been one of my favorite films since childhood, and has largely inspired and influenced my illustrative work,\u201d says artist Alexandria Huntington. \u201cI am just really excited to add to that legacy. For me,\u00a0The Dark Crystal\u00a0<\/em>transcends \u201cfantasy\u201d as the genre we know today, and harkens back to something more primal. It\u2019s more a myth than a story, and there is something intrinsically magical about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
