SAN DIEGO, CA (July 20, 2018) \u2013\u00a0Bernie Wrightson<\/strong>\u00a0is universally regarded as the finest horror artist of the last 50 years, and\u00a0Frankenstein<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was his undisputed opus. IDW Publishing is proud to announce that this masterpiece of illustration will be presented in the Eisner Award-winning\u00a0Artist\u2019s Edition<\/strong>\u00a0format for late next year.<\/p>\n

As with all Artist\u2019s Editions, each gorgeous plate will be reproduced from scans of the original art and printed at the same size they were drawn, with all the distinctive creative nuances that make original art unique \u2013 a perfect representation of the work in its original form.<\/p>\n

In 1975, Wrightson was a founding member of\u00a0The Studio<\/em>, an art collective in Manhattan\u2019s Chelsea District, alongside Jeff Jones, Michael Kaluta, and Barry Windsor-Smith. It was during his time at\u00a0The Studio<\/em>\u00a0that he began work on\u00a0Frankenstein<\/em>, which was eventually published in the early 1980s by Marvel Comics. A sequel entitled\u00a0Frankenstein Alive, Alive<\/em>\u00a0was released by IDW as a comic book series beginning in 2012 and will be collected as a hardcover this October.<\/p>\n
