This spotlight on\u00a0FIREFLY #2<\/strong>\u00a0begins with the reveal of the main cover by artist Lee Garbett (Skyward, Bone Parish<\/em>), featuring a new vision of the enigmatic and lovable rogue known as Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds preparing for conflict. Now, fans will learn his true past and the definitive story of the Unification War \u2014 the intergalactic civil war that divided friend and family alike \u2014 in this new\u00a0series by\u00a0New York Times<\/em>best-selling writer Greg Pak (World War Hulk, Mech Cadet Yu<\/em>) and artist Dan McDaid (Judge Dredd<\/em>), along with series creator & story consultant \u00a0Joss Whedon (the visionary writer\/director behind\u00a0Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Marvel\u2019s The Avengers,<\/em>\u00a0and more).<\/p>\n

Mal, a defeated soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the totalitarian governed Alliance, will undertake any job \u2014 legal or not \u2014 to stay afloat and keep his crew fed. Thrust together by necessity but staying together out of loyalty, these disparate men and women are seeking adventure and the good life, but face constant challenges on the new frontier, such as avoiding capture by the Alliance, and evading the dangers you find on the fringes of the universe.<\/p>\n

Mal thought he could outrun his past, but when a simple mission goes wrong, he\u2019s forced to confront it in the form of the Unificators, mercenaries deputized to hunt down war criminals…and they\u2019ve got Mal and Zoe at the top of their list!
