Studios today unveiled the newest #MalCrushMonday debut, spotlighting\u00a0FIREFLY #2<\/strong>\u00a0in December 2018 and continuing the return of the iconic worldwide pop culture phenomenon to comic books in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products.<\/p>\n

This spotlight on\u00a0FIREFLY #2<\/strong>\u00a0continues with the reveal of a variant cover by acclaimed artist Marguerite Sauvage, featuring younger versions Mal and Zoe during the Unification War. Now, fans will learn his true past and the definitive story of the intergalactic civil war that divided friend and family alike \u2014 in this news series by\u00a0New York Times<\/em>\u00a0best-selling writer Greg Pak (World War Hulk, Mech Cadet Yu<\/em>) and artist Dan McDaid (Judge Dredd<\/em>), along with series creator & story consultant \u00a0Joss Whedon (the visionary writer\/director behind\u00a0Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Marvel\u2019s The Avengers<\/em>\u00a0and more).<\/p>\n

Created by Whedon and set 500 years in the future in the wake of a universal civil war,\u00a0FIREFLY\u00a0<\/strong>centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship that doesn’t have a planet to call home. Mal, a defeated soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the totalitarian governed Alliance, will undertake any job \u2014 legal or not \u2014 to stay afloat and keep his crew fed. Thrust together by necessity but staying together out of loyalty, these disparate men and women are seeking adventure and the good life, but face constant challenges on the new frontier, such as avoiding capture by the Alliance, and evading the dangers you find on the fringes of the universe.<\/p>\n

Mal thought he could outrun his past, but when a simple mission goes wrong, he\u2019s forced to confront it in the form of the Unificators, mercenaries deputized to hunt down war criminals…and they\u2019ve got Mal and Zoe at the top of their list! War can make villains of even the best men, and Mal\u2019s quest for redemption will put him at odds with his own crew, forcing him to make a choice: fix the past or fight for the future.<\/p>\n
